Mission Statement
The mission of Pretrial Services for the Southern District of California is
defined by two Federal statutes, the Pretrial Services Act of 1982 and the
Bail Reform Act of 1984. In the broadest of terms it is this office's
responsibility to collect verify and report to the judicial officer, prior
to the release hearing, information pertaining to the pretrial release of
each individual charged with a felony or Class A misdemeanor federal
criminal offense, recommend release conditions and to supervise any
defendants released into its custody. In carrying out this mission, we
strive to provide excellent service to the court.
