PRETRIAL MISSION
Excellent Service to the Courts

The mission of Pretrial Services for the Southern District of California is defined by two Federal Statutes; the Pretrial Services Act of 1982 and the Bail Reform Act of 1984.  In the broadest terms, it is our responsibility to collect, verify, and report to the judicial officer prior to the release hearing, information pertaining to the pretrial release of each individual charged with a Felony or Class A Misdemeanor federal criminal offense.  We then recommend release conditions, and supervise any defendants released into our custody.

OUR VISION
In carrying our mission, we strive to provide excellent service to the court by insuring that the interests of the community and the rights of defendants are met and protected in every case.
